Beck House
Orchid: Excellence in Historic Preservation
Awarded to Jim and Monica Walker
For the rescue and restoration of the Beck House in Boise

The Albert Beck house was designed at the turn of the Twentieth Century by the Boise firm of Tourtellotte and Hummel. It was owned and inhabited by the Beck family for nearly seven decades before being sold to a neighboring church. The church, in an attempt to gain surface parking decided to demolish or move ten historic homes in a National Register listed historic district. One of those homes, the Beck house was rescued by Jim and Monica Walker and their family, moved a block away, and completely restored over the last four years. The Walkers have dedicated labor, love, and not a little money into a house that they now call home which is why Preservation Idaho is proud to honor Jim and Monica for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
